Hasn’t June just flown by!? With its share of events, it’s set me back even further with the May stories. Anyhow, throwback to just after the Royal Raid when we had the mountain bike African Continental Championships followed closely by the Mauritius Tour Beachcomber – a 3 day stage race in the South of the Island. The African Champs tested the riders not only with a difficult course in Bel Ombre, but also particularly wet, muddy and slippery. You could hear the shouts of frustration from some as they constantly battled to keep the bikes from skidding, and by the end of it all were thoroughly covered in mud. Champion Arno Du Toit from South Africa showed impressive control downhill, unclipping a shoe and keeping the foot out on the up side of the slope to regain stability when needed. Yannick Lincoln from Mauritius took second place while Aurelie Halbwachs became the ladies champion.

Luckily the Mauritius Tour Beachcomber was graced with good weather for most of the time, passing through some spectacular locations and along the beautiful South coast. Below is just a brief visual summary but you can find out more about the event on the Beachcomber Events website.
For quick update, last week was the LUX Surfski week, the inauguration of the Moka Bike Park and the Southern Peaks Trail run. Super stoked to be a part of these and preparing for the Ultra Trail Raidlight Beachcomber (UTRB) this weekend. Stay tuned.
